Abstract: The current investigation aims at the analysis of the structure of the soil at the substation site which is a prime pre-requisite in designing the substation. The key specifications to be estimated with obtained site details are number of layers, and the electrical specifications like resistivity and thickness of every layer. The equivalent model for the Earth structure based on the measured resistivity is designed using the RESAP module in CDEGS software. The performance of the concealed conductors under the ground surface in frequency domain is calculated using the MALZ module and HIFREQ module is used to resolve the Ground Potential Rise (GPR) when injecting fault current in the grid. The Present article also discusses about the consequences of the GPR and alternative ways to improvise it. 2019, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.. All rights reserved.
