Design and Implementation of a System for Vehicle Accident Reporting and Tracking
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2022) Dankan Gowda, V.D.; Sharma, A.; Naik, A.S.; Meena, R.S.; Kudari, J.M.; Purushotham, S.
Population growth and per capita income have contributed to increasing vehicle ownership and presence on roads worldwide. Increasing traffic on roads is one of the prime causes of road accidents. A large proportion of people die prematurely in road accidents. It is almost impossible to predict before the accident happens. Also, there may be some accident prevention mechanisms and early warning systems, but it is hard to avert road accidents wholly. This paper has explained in detail, the designing and implementation of a crash notifier system. © 2022 IEEE.

Vehicle Re-identification Using Convolutional Neural Networks
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2023) Kedkar, N.; Karthik Reddy, K.; Arya, H.; Sunil, C.K.; Patil, N.
Vehicle re-identification is the process of matching automobiles from one place on the road (one field of vision) to the next. Important traffic characteristics like the trip duration, travel time variability, section density, and partial dynamic origin/destination needs may be acquired by performing vehicle re-identification. However, doing so without using number plates has become challenging since cars experience substantial variations in attitude, angle of view, light, and other factors, all of which have a major influence on vehicle identification performance. To increase each model’s representation ability as much as feasible, we apply a variety of strategies that will bring a major change like using filter grafting, semi-supervised learning, and multi-loss. The tests presented in this paper show that such strategies are successful in addressing challenges within this space. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Study on Effect of Driving Pattern on Engine Parameters
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2025) Khan, A.A.; Arumuga Perumal, D.A.
With continuous changes happening in a city’s infrastructure like construction of new roads, flyovers, metro rails, hundreds of new vehicles being bought everyday, etc., the traffic in a city is also rapidly increasing. This has forced the motor car drivers to change their driving behaviour. Different motorist driving in different patterns affects engine components to a different extent, so a study to understand the driving behaviour should be carried out at intervals of 4–5 years to establish critical design parameters for different components of the engine. This project has been undertaken to study the dispersion in various parameters affecting driving behaviour of different drivers. A study with 24 motorists of different age groups and professions has been conducted. Each motor driver had to drive the same passenger vehicle in predefined condition with parameters that critically affect engine components. The data was recorded from ECU through OBD port and a set of hardware and studied statistically. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
