A hybrid bioinspired algorithm for facial emotion recognition using CSO-GA-PSO-SVM
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2015) Vivek, T.V.; Guddeti, G.
Human-Computer Interaction gets more natural when the machine can detect human emotions faster and accurate. A lot of research is being carried out in the field of affective computing in order to improve the accuracy with speed. Bio-inspired algorithms for feature extraction and classification stages, has improved accuracy and speed further. In this paper, we propose a hybrid algorithm using CSO (Cat Swarm Optimization) with PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) and GA (Genetic Algorithm) for emotion recognition (ER). This bio inspired algorithm in conjunction with the support vector machine (SVM) will find an optimal feature set from a bigger set. Results from CK+ (Cohn Kanade) [1] dataset demonstrate that our proposed method using CSO-GA-PSOSVM outperforms Emotion Recognition System with CSOSVM by 10.5% in accuracy. This paper also proposes a new E-Learning [2] system to demonstrate its effectiveness and efficiency in real-time scenario. The proposed algorithm is applied over the facial characteristics captured from students in teaching-learning environment. The optimized feature vector obtained is passed to the SVM classifier for classification. Experimental results yield 99% classification accuracy in a person dependent mode with six basic emotions namely Happy, Sad, Anger, Disgust, Surprise and Neutral. © 2015 IEEE.

A hybrid community detection based on evolutionary algorithms in social networks
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2016) Jami, V.; Guddeti, G.R.
In social network analysis, community detection is an optimization problem of finding out partitions of maximum modularity density from a network. It is a NP-hard problem which can be done using evolutionary algorithms such as Particle Swarm Optimization, Cat Swarm Optimization, Genetic Algorithm and Genetic Algorithm with Simulated Annealing. In this work, we proposed an algorithm based on Genetic Algorithm with Simulated annealing for not being trapped into local optimal solution which is giving more better results. The main motto of our work is to get better communities with low computation cost. We tested our proposed algorithm on three standard datasets such as Zachary's Karate Club Dataset, American College Football and Dolphin Social Network Dataset. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm outperforms state of the art approaches. © 2016 IEEE.

GA-PSO: Service Allocation in Fog Computing Environment Using Hybrid Bio-Inspired Algorithm
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2019) Yadav, V.; Natesha, B.V.; Guddeti, R.M.R.
Internet of Thing (IoT) applications require an efficient platform for processing big data. Different computing techniques such as Cloud, Edge, and Fog are used for processing big data. The main challenge in the fog computing environment is to minimize both energy consumption and makespan for services. The service allocation techniques on a set of virtual machines (VMs) is the decidable factor for energy consumption and latency in fog servers. Hence, the service allocation in fog environment is referred to as NP-hard problem. In this work, we developed a hybrid algorithm using Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique to solve this NP-hard problem. The proposed GA-PSO is used for optimal allocation of services while minimizing the total makespan, energy consumption for IoT applications in the fog computing environment. We implemented the proposed GA-PSO using customized C simulator, and the results demonstrate that the proposed GA-PSO outperforms both GA and PSO techniques when applied individually. © 2019 IEEE.

A Survey of Hyperparameter Selection Methods for Weather Forecasting Using State-of-the-Art Machine Learning Algorithms
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2025) Sen, A.; Sen, U.; Paul, M.; Sutradhar, A.; Vankala, T.N.; Mallick, C.; Mallik, A.; Roy, A.; Sai, S.; Roy, S.
Weather forecasting is an important aspect across various sectors, but the intricate dynamics of weather systems pose a challenge for conventional statistical models to forecast accurately. Besides auto-regressive time forecasting models like ARIMA, deep learning architectures like ANNs, LSTMs, and GRU networks have been shown to enhance the accuracy of forecasts by considering temporal dependencies. This paper studies various machine learning models like XGBoost, SVR, KNN Regressor, Random Forest Regressor and the application of metaheuristic algorithms, like Genetic Algorithm (GA), Differential Evolution (DE), and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), on some deep learning model architectures like ANNs, LSTMs and GRUs, to automate the process of finding the best hyperparameters for the models. Furthermore, this paper explores the Quantum LSTM (QLSTM) network and novel QLSTM Ensemble models. We conduct a comparative study of these model structures, evaluating their effectiveness in weather prediction using measures such as Mean Squared Error (MSE) and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). The findings underscore the capabilities of metaheuristic algorithms and innovative quantum methods in enhancing the precision of weather forecasts. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
