Item Bit error rate analysis of coded OFDM for digital audio broadcasting system, employing parallel concatenated convolutional turbo codes(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2015) Jacob, N.; Sripati, U.In this paper we present a study of Bit Error Rate (BER), for Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system, employing Coded OFDM with different channel coding schemes. Analysis is carried out for convolutional coded and turbo coded data in an Additive White Gaussian Channel (AWGN) based on different constraint lengths and code generator polynomials used for coding. A comparative study on the computational complexity is also done by applying an audio signal and measuring the data processing time per frame, on computers with different processor speeds. It is shown that a coding gain of approximately 6 dB is achieved using turbo coding when compared to convolutional coding, at a cost of higher computational complexity. © 2015 IEEE.Item Performance of spatially coupled LDPC codes over underwater acoustic communication channel(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2020) Padala, S.K.; D'Souza, J.Underwater acoustic (UWA) channel is complex because of its multipath environment, Doppler shift and rapidly changing characteristics. Many of the UWA communication- based applications demand high data rates and reliable communication. The orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system is very effective in UWA channels and provides high data rate with low equalization complexity. It is a challenging task to achieve reliability over these channels. The low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes give a better error performance than turbo codes, for UWA channels. The spatially-coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) codes have been shown to have the capacity-achieving performance over terrestrial communication. In this paper, we have studied by simulation, the performance of protograph based SC-LDPC codes over shallow water acoustic environment with a communication range of 1000 m and channel bandwidth of 10 KHz. Our results show that SC-LDPC codes give 1 dB performance improvement over LDPC codes at a Bit Error Rate (BER) of 10-3 for the same latency constraints. © 2020 IEEE.Item Comparative Study of Power Optimization Technique for M2M Communication Node Under 5G (NR)(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2023) Sharma, V.; Arya, R.K.; Kumar, S.; Pandey, K.The direct Fourier transform-spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and cyclic prefix orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CP-OFDM) are used for the end-to-end data transmission to support the 5G services and backward compatibility. Improving battery life has always been an important concern in 5G machine-to-machine (M2M) communication nodes. Efficient utilization of power amplifiers (PA) and inferior peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is helpful to achieve enhanced battery life. Filter bank multi-carrier (FBMC) multiplexing is an alternative to CP-OFDM that offers low PAPR with the benefits of CP removal. Another way to get low PAPR is single carrier OFDM (SC-FDMA). The transmission requirements between these services are different, which presents a challenge for waveform adaptability to PAPR issues. The DFT-s-OFDM technique is one of the choices to overcome the PAPR that is used in uplink scenarios. Apart from PAPR reduction, DFT-s-OFDM provides optimal use of nonlinear power amplifiers. In addition to PAPR analysis, spectral efficiency is also compared in the simulation results. Using parameters that adjust the cost of spectral efficiency, DFT-s-OFDM provides the extent of improvement in PAPR performance and bit error rate over traditional CP-OFDM, SC-FDMA, and FBMC against the noisy channel. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
