Item Evolution of community based routing in Delay Tolerant Networks(2010) D'Souza, R.J.; Varaprasad, G.; Jose, J.; Manoj, R.A Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) is a subset of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET), where contemporaneous connectivity among all nodes doesn't exist. Making appropriate routing decision in such networks is a challenge. Researchers have addressed this issue for over a decade and have come out with several algorithms. The latest trend in this field is to utilize the power of handheld devices for transferring messages in a delay tolerant fashion. The goal of this work is to survey the evolution of various routing protocols in a DTN. © 2010 IADIS.Item Human mobility based message transfer in Delay Tolerant Networks A single relay approach(2011) D'Souza, R.J.; Jose, J.A Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) is a type of Mobile Ad Hoc Network, where end-to-end connectivity between a pair of nodes may never exist. Due to this lack of end-to-end connectivity, traditional routing methods are not suitable in a DTN. However, various approaches have been proposed to achieve message transfer in such a network. This work looks into utilizing the capacity of 802.11n wireless standard, available on the modern mobile devices for this task. Modern mobile devices are equipped with multiple wireless ports as well as ever increasing processing power and storage capacity. They are not utilized as an alternative means for message transfer, even when the infrastructure-based connectivity is not available. The mobile devices move around according to the human mobility pattern, which is semi-deterministic in nature. This work studies how this semi-deterministic nature of human mobility can be effectively utilized for message transfer in a DTN environment. Simulation shows that the existing features of mobile devices are sufficient to achieve close to 100% connection opportunities. © 2011 IEEE.Item Study and analysis of various task scheduling algorithms in the cloud computing environment(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2014) Mathew, T.; Chandra Sekaran, K.C.; Jose, J.Cloud computing is a novel perspective for large scale distributed computing and parallel processing. It provides computing as a utility service on a pay per use basis. The performance and efficiency of cloud computing services always depends upon the performance of the user tasks submitted to the cloud system. Scheduling of the user tasks plays significant role in improving performance of the cloud services. Task scheduling is one of the main types of scheduling performed. This paper presents a detailed study of various task scheduling methods existing for the cloud environment. A brief analysis of various scheduling parameters considered in these methods is also discussed in this paper. © 2014 IEEE.Item An E-Learning System with Multifacial Emotion Recognition Using Supervised Machine Learning(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2016) Ashwin, T.S.; Jose, J.; Raghu, G.; Guddeti, G.R.E-Learning systems based on Affective computingare popularly used for emotional/behavioral analysis of the users. Emotions expressed by the user is depicted by detecting the facialexpression of the user and accordingly the teaching strategies willbe changed. The present eLearning systems mainly focus on thesingle user face detection. Hence, in this paper, we proposemultiuser face detection based eLearning system using supportvector machine based supervised machine learning technique. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed systemprovides the accuracy of 89% to 100% w.r.t different datasets(LFW, FDDB, and YFD). Further, to improve the speed ofemotional feature processing, we used GPU along with the CPUand thereby achieve a speedup factor of 2. © 2015 IEEE.
