Item Synthesis, growth and characterization of 1-(5-chlorothiophen-2-yl)-3-(2,4, 5-trimethoxyphenyl) prop-2-en-1-one single crystal: A potential NLO material(2011) Prabhu, A.N.; Upadhyaya, V.; Arasalike, A.; Maddasani, M.; Manjunatha, K.B.; Umesh, G.A potentially useful nonlinear optical (NLO) organic material, 1-(5-chlorothiophen-2-yl)-3-(24,5-trimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one(CTTMP), has been synthesized and grown as a high-quality single crystal by the slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy. The material has thermal stability up to its melting point. Single beam Z-scan technique was employed to study the third order NLO properties of the material. © 2011 American Institute of Physics.Item Zn doped CdO thin films with enhanced linear and third order nonlinear optical properties for optoelectronic applications(American Institute of Physics Inc. subs@aip.org, 2018) Bairy, R.; Arasalike, A.; Shivakumar, G.K.; Patil, P.S.; Bhat, K.U.Thin films of undoped and zinc doped CdO have been deposited on glass substrate using spray pyrolysis technique with various dopant concentrations of Zn such as 1, 5 and 10%. Influence of Zn doping on CdO thin films for the structural, morphological, optical and nonlinear optical properties are reported. XRD analysis reveals that as prepared pure and Zn doped CdO films show polycrystalline nature with face centered cubic structure. Also, Zn doping does not significantly modify the crystallinity and not much increase in the crystallite size of the film. SEM images shows grains which are uniform and grain size with increase in dopant concentration. The transmittance of the prepared CdO films recorded in the UV visible spectra and it shows 50 to 60% in the visible region. The estimated optical band gap increases from 2.60 to 2.70 eV for various dopant concentrations. The nonlinear optical absorption of Zn-doped CdO films have been measured used the Z-scan technique at a wavelength 532 nm. The nonlinear optical absorption coefficient (β), nonlinear refractive index (n2) and the third order nonlinear optical susceptibility (χ(3)) of the pure and Zn doped films were determined. © 2018 Author(s).Item A novel cross-linked PVA-Chitosan composite membrane for heavy metal filtration applications(Elsevier Ltd, 2022) Deekshitha, K.; Rao, M.S.; Rebello, N.; Ramaprasad, A.T.; Arasalike, A.; Pinto, R.A novel glutaraldehyde cross-linked Chitosan-PVA (GCP) polymer composite membrane is used to create a water filtration device. The GCP polymer membrane is synthesised using the solution casting process. GCP membranes are characterised using different techniques. The results showed that this filtration unit developed using GCP membrane is effective in reducing the Lead, Cadmium, Sodium and Iron content by 99.32%, 98.1, 88.21% and 78.9% respectively. The creation of nano-pores in GCP membrane, the adsorbent property of GCP and the thermal and chemical stability of GCP are the key factors leading to high performance filtration of major metal contaminants in ground water. © 2022
