Mobile Ad Hoc Networks: Bio-Inspired Quality of Service Aware Routing Protocols
    (2016) Mohana Reddy, G.R.; Kiran, M.
In recent years, a lot of work has been done in an effort to incorporate Swarm Intelligence (SI) techniques in building an adaptive routing protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs). Since centralized approach for routing in MANETs generally lacks in scalability and fault-tolerance, SI techniques provide a natural solution through a distributed approach for the adaptive routing for MANETs. In SI techniques, the captivating features of insects or mammals are correlated with the real world problems to find solutions. Recently, several applications of bio-inspired and nature-inspired algorithms in telecommunications and computer networks have achieved remarkable success. The main aims/objectives of this book, "Mobile Ad Hoc Networks: Bio-Inspired Quality of Service Aware Routing Protocols", are twofold; firstly it clearly distinguishes between principles of traditional routing protocols and SI based routing protocols, while explaining in detail the analogy between MANETs and SI principles. Secondly, it presents the readers with important Quality of Service (QoS) parameters and explains how SI based routing protocols achieves QoS demands of the applications. This book also gives quantitative and qualitative analysis of some of the SI based routing protocols for MANETs. © 2017 by Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.

Mathematical Modeling for the Solution of Equations and Systems of Equations with Applications: Volume II
    (2018) Argyros, I.K.; George S.; Thapa, N.
This book is dedicated to the approximation of solutions of nonlinear equations using iterative methods. The study about convergence matter of iterative methods is usually based on two categories: semi-local and local convergence analysis. The semi-local convergence category is, based on the information around an initial point, to provide criteria ensuring the convergence of the method; while the local one is, based on the information around a solution, to find estimates of the radii of the convergence balls. The book is divided into two volumes. The chapters in each volume are self-contained so they can be read independently. Each chapter contains semi-local and local convergence results for single, multi-step and multi-point old and new contemporary iterative methods involving Banach, Hilbert or Euclidean valued operators. These methods are used to generate a sequence defined on the aforementioned spaces that converges with a solution of a nonlinear equation, an inverse problem or an ill-posed problem. It is worth mentioning that most problems in computational and related disciplines can be brought in the form of an equation using mathematical modelling. The solutions of equations can be found in analytical form only in special cases. Hence, it is very important to study the convergence of iterative methods. The book is a valuable tool for researchers, practitioners, graduate students, and can also be used as a textbook for seminars in all computational and related disciplines. © 2018 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. LQG for the Bewildered: The Self-Dual Approach Revisited
    (2016) Vaid, D.; Bilson-Thompson, S.
This primer offers a concise introduction to Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG) - a theoretical framework for uniting Quantum Mechanics (QM) with General Relativity (GR). The emphasis is on the physical aspects of the framework and its historical development in terms of self-dual variables, still most suited for a first, pedagogical encounter with LQG. The text starts by reviewing GR and the very basics of Quantum Field Theory (QFT), and then explains in a concise and clear manner the steps leading from the Einstein-Hilbert action for gravity to the construction of the quantum states of geometry, known as spin-networks, and which provide the basis for the kinematical Hilbert space of quantum general relativity. Along the way the various associated concepts of tetrads, spin-connection and holonomies are introduced. Having thus provided a minimal introduction to the LQG framework, some applications to the problems of black hole entropy and of quantum cosmology are briefly surveyed. Last but not least, a list of the most common criticisms of LQG is presented, which are then tackled one by one in order to convince the reader of the physical viability of the theory. A set of appendices provides accessible introductions to several key notions such as the Peter-Weyl theorem, duality of differential forms and Regge calculus, among others. The presentation is aimed at graduate students and researchers who have some familiarity with the tools of QM and GR, but are intimidated by the technicalities required to browse through the existing LQG literature. This primer aims at making the formalism appear a little less bewildering to the uninitiated and helps lower the barrier for entry into the field. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2017.
