The present study on fluidized bed coating identifies the effect of system parameters on coating performance. Effects of a greater number of fluidization variables are included than reported in the literature. Existing analytical models on fluidized bed coating have been critically examined. A new model has been proposed with no assumptions regarding temperature profile within the coating and heat loss to the bed at the melting point of the polymer. A computer programme has been developed to solve the transient-coupled heat transfer between the object and the coating. A theoretical solution was compared with experimental data obtained. The agreement is good.Fluidized bed coatingArticle
