The grown crystals were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy. The material has thermal stability up to its melting point. Single beam Z-scan technique was employed to study the third order NLO properties of the material. © 2011 American Institute of Physics.CharacterizationCrystal structureGrowth from solutionsNonlinear optical materialOrganic compoundsSingle-crystal growthSynthesis, growth and characterization of 1-(5-chlorothiophen-2-yl)-3-(2,4, 5-trimethoxyphenyl) prop-2-en-1-one single crystal: A potential NLO material
