This article presents the effect of quenching media i.e., water, meta quench oil and silicone oil on the phases and shape memory properties of polycrystalline Cu–Al–Be–B shape memory alloys. The tests have been carried out for phases, crystal structure, phase transformation temperatures and shape recovery ratio. The investigation results in all the quenched SMAs exhibits complete martensite. Water and Meta quench oil quenched SMAs exhibit almost similar transformation temperatures with rapid response. © 2023, The Indian Institute of Metals - IIM.
