The title compound, C<inf>16</inf>H<inf>13</inf>BrO<inf>3</inf>, consists of a toluene ring and a bromo-benzene ring which are linked together by a 2-oxopropyl acetate group. The dihedral angle formed between the toluene and bromo-benzene rings is 80.70 (7)°. In the crystal, intermolecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into a three-dimensional network.
