Three precast pretensioned hyperbolic paraboloid shells having 5. 5-m span, 1-m width in plan, 0. 2-m longitudinal rise, 0. 25-m depth and having different thicknesses were tested till failure under uniformly distributed load. Strains, deflections and crack widths were measured at various stages of loading. Predicted cracking loads, ultimate loads, strains, deflections and crack widths were compared with the experimental results. The behaviour of the shell under various limit states is discussed and conclusions are drawn.en_US
