The wheel assembly is the outboard link of the suspension mechanism. Its main function is to hold the wheel in the required position. The design of the wheel assembly is based on and controlled by important vehicle dynamic parameters like camber caster KPI, etc. It is important to keep these quantities close to the ideal/desired values as possible to get the desired performance. This paper proposes a version of the wheel assembly which uses double bearings and designed with a modular design approach to make the design simpler and more reliable for formula student cars. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
