Technical specification may always not be reliable while designing a wireless sensor network because of discrepancy between specification and actual field measurement data. This work attempts to bridge the gap by providing practical field test measurement results and analysis done on a ZigBee device. The results presented in this work can be used as a guidance when designing wireless sensor network based applications. Various field tests such as range tests, time taken to start and join a ZigBee network, power consumption in various stages, device discovery and interoperability tests between ZigBee devices from different suppliers have been covered as part of this work. 2016 IEEE.en_US
