Finite dimensional realization of a Guass-Newton method for ill-posed hammerstein type operator equations
    (2012) Erappa, M.E.; George, S.
Finite dimensional realization of an iterative regularization method for approximately solving the non-linear ill-posed Hammerstein type operator equations KF(x) = f, is considered. The proposed method is a combination of the Tikhonov regularization and Guass-Newton method. The advantage of the proposed method is that, we use the Fr chet derivative of F only at one point in each iteration. We derive the error estimate under a general source condition and the regularization parameter is chosen according to balancing principle of Pereverzev and Schock (2005). The derived error estimate is of optimal order and the numerical example provided proves the efficiency of the proposed method. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

Reconstruction of signals by standard Tikhonov method
    (2011) George, S.; Padikkal, P.
In this work we propose a standard Tikhonov regularization approach for obtaining the signal f from the observed signal ye. The observed signal is distorted by an additive noise or error e. Deviating from the usual assumption on the bound on

Dynamical system method for ill-posed Hammerstein type operator equations with monotone operators
    (2012) Erappa, M.E.; George, S.
The problem of approximately solving an ill-posed Hammerstein type operator equation KF(x) = y in a Hilbert space is considered, where K is a bounded linear operator and F is a non-linear monotone operator. The method involves the Dynamical System Method (DSM) - both continuous and iterative schemes, studied by Ramm (2005), and known as Tikhonov regularization. By choosing the regularization parameter according to an adaptive scheme considered by Pereverzev and Schock (2005) an order optimal error estimate has been obtained. © 2012 Academic Publications, Ltd.

Expanding the applicability of a modified Gauss-Newton method for solving nonlinear ill-posed problems
    (2013) Argyros, I.K.; George, S.
We expand the applicability of a modified Gauss-Newton method recently presented in George (2013) [19] for approximate solution of a nonlinear ill-posed operator equation between two Hilbert spaces. We use a center-type Lipschitz condition in our convergence analysis instead of a Lipschitz-type condition used in earlier studies such as George (2013, 2010) [19,18]. This way a tighter convergence analysis is obtained and under less computational cost, since the more precise and easier to compute center-Lipschitz instead of the Lipschitz constant is used in the convergence analysis. Numerical examples are presented to show that our results apply but earlier ones do not apply to solve equations. © 2013 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

A two step newton type iteration for ill-posed Hammerstein type operator equations in Hilbert scales
(Rocky Mountain Mathematics Consortium PO Box 871904 Tempe AZ 85287-1804, 2014) Erappa, M.E.; George, S.; Kunhanandan, M.
In this paper regularized solutions of ill-posed Hammerstein type operator equation KF(x) = y, where K : X ? Y is a bounded linear operator with non-closed range and F : X ? X is non-linear, are obtained by a two step Newton type iterative method in Hilbert scales, where the available data is y? in place of actual data y with

Newton type iteration for Tikhonov regularization of non-linear ill-posed Hammerstein type equations
    (2014) George, S.; Erappa, M.E.
An iterative method is investigated for a nonlinear ill-posed Hammerstein type operator equation KF(x)=f. We use a center-type Lipschitz condition in our convergence analysis instead of the usual Lipschitz condition. The adaptive method of Pereverzev and Schock (SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 43(5):2060-2076, 2005) is used for choosing the regularization parameter. The optimality of this method is proved under a general source condition involving the Fréchet derivative of F at some initial guess x 0. A numerical example of nonlinear integral equation shows the efficiency of this procedure. © 2013 Korean Society for Computational and Applied Mathematics.

Finite dimensional realization of a Tikhonov gradient type-method under weak conditions
    (Springer-Verlag Italia s.r.l. springer@springer.it, 2016) Shubha, V.S.; George, S.; Padikkal, P.
In this paper we consider projection techniques to obtain the finite dimensional realization of a Tikhonov gradient type-method considered in George et al. (Local convergence of a Tikhonov gradient type-method under weak conditions, communicated, 2016) for approximating a solution x^ of the nonlinear ill-posed operator equation F(x) = y. The main advantage of the proposed method is that the inverse of the operator F is not involved in the method. The regularization parameter is chosen according to the adaptive method considered by Pereverzev and Schock (SIAM J Numer Anal 43(5):2060–2076, 2005). We also derive optimal stopping conditions on the number of iterations necessary for obtaining the optimal order of convergence. Using two numerical examples we compare our results with an existing method to justify the theoretical results. © 2016, Springer-Verlag Italia.

Convergence of a Tikhonov Gradient Type-Method for Nonlinear Ill-Posed Equations
    (Springer, 2017) George, S.; Shubha, V.S.; Padikkal, P.
In this study Tikhonov Gradient type-method is considered for nonlinear ill-posed operator equations. In our convergence analysis, we use hypotheses only on the first Frec?het derivative of F in contrast to the higher order Frec?het derivatives used in the earlier studies. We obtained ‘optimal’ order error estimate by choosing the regularization parameter according to the adaptive method proposed by Pereverzev and Schock (SIAM J Numer Anal 43(5):2060–2076, 2005). © 2017, Springer (India) Private Ltd.

Expanding the applicability of an a posteriori parameter choice strategy for Tikhonov regularization of nonlinear ill-posed problems
    (Springer-Verlag Italia s.r.l., 2019) Argyros, I.K.; Cho, Y.J.; George, S.; Xiao, Y.
We expand the applicability of an a posteriori parameter choice strategy for Tikhonov regularization of the nonlinear ill-posed problem presented in Jin and Hou (Numer Math 83:139–159, 1999) by weakening the conditions needed in Jin and Hou [13]. Using a center-type Lipschitz condition instead of a Lipschitz-type condition used in Jin and Hou [13], Scherzer et al. (SIAM J Numer Anal 30:1796–1838, 1993), we obtain a tighter convergence analysis. Numerical examples are presented to show that our results apply but earlier ones do not apply to solve equations. © 2019, The Royal Academy of Sciences, Madrid.
