Item A Partial Solution to Cordial Tree Conjecture(Taru Publications, 2014) Hegde, S.M.; Murthy, T.S.Abstract: In this paper, we prove the weak harmonious tree conjecture by Andrzej ?ak (2009) using the value sets of polynomials. Consequently, it partially proves the cordial tree conjecture by Mark Hovey (1991), that is all trees of order n < p are p-cordial, where p is a prime. © 2014, © Taru Publications.Item Construction of graceful digraphs using algebraic structures(Taru Publications, 2016) Hegde, S.M.; Kumudakshi, K.Abstract: In the early 1980?s Bloom and Hsu extended the notation of graceful labelings to directed graphs, and gave a relationship between graceful digraphs and a variety of algebraic structures. In this paper using a cyclic (v, k, ?) difference set with ? copies of elements of Zv\ {0}, we construct graceful digraphs of k vertices and v – 1 arcs. It is known that if gracefully labelled graph has e edges then its symmetric digraph is graceful with the same vertex labels. Although, the cycle Cm is not graceful for m?1, 2 (mod 4) we show that the symmetric digraph based on cycle Cm i.e the double cycle, DCm which is constructed from a m-cycle by replacing each edge by a pair of arcs, edge xy gives rise to arcs (x, y) and (y, x), is graceful for any m vertices specifically for m?1, 2 (mod 4). © 2016 TARU Publications.Item Investigation of forced convective and subcooled flow boiling heat transfer coefficients of water-ethanol mixture: numerical study(International Information and Engineering Technology Association, 2021) Suhas, S.; Ravi, R.; Sathyabhama, A.The subcooled flow boiling is related to the operation of electronic devices, Hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) Battery module and small catalytic reactors. It is well known that the operational temperature must be maintained to avoid any malfunction of these heat dissipative devices. In this paper the forced convective and subcooled flow boiling heat transfer coefficients of water-ethanol mixture is determined numerically by Volume of fluid analysis (VOF). The interaction between liquid and local vapour is analysed by solving the bubble volume of fraction in the numerical study. Crank Nicolson implicit scheme is used for discretizing the scalar convection equation for bubble void fraction and transforming into algebraic equation. Thomas Algorithm is used to solve the algebraic equations of bubble void fraction. The corrector predictor equation method is used to solve for bubble void fraction when the value obtained is less than 0 or exceeds 1. The thermodynamic and Thermophysical properties are substituted in the x-momentum and energy equation to determine the values of pressure drop, velocity and temperature of the fluid. From the temperature values, the subcooled flow boiling heat transfer coefficient is obtained. It is found that the addition of ethanol to water decreases the forced convective and subcooled flow boiling heat transfer coefficient of the water-ethanol mixture. The numerically determined heat transfer coefficient of water ethanol mixture is compared with that of the experimental results. The average deviation between the experimentally determined and numerically determined subcooled flow boiling heat transfer coefficient of water ethanol-mixture is found to be 24.13%. © 2021 International Information and Engineering Technology Association. One such application is in semi-active vehicle suspension with MR damper. Modeling the dynamic behavior of MR damper is an intriguing challenge and many mathematical models are put forth to address this task. In this work, the MR damper is initially developed and characterized using in-house prepared MR fluid. This study aims at using a modified algebraic model (mAlg) for modeling the hysteretic behavior of the MR damper using experimental force data. Also, the study uses a Genetic algorithm toolbox to find optimal parameters for the mAlg model, and the accuracy of mAlg is visualized with various plots. The work also aims at analyzing the response of the quarter car model with MR damper to three kinds of road excitations using Simulink. © 2022Item Numerical investigation on subcooled boiling heat transfer coefficient of water-ethanol mixture by CISCAM technique(Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2023) Suhas, S.B.; Mangrulkar, C.K.; Umashankar, K.K.K.; Sathyabhama, S.The subcooled flow boiling (SFB) of a water-ethanol mixture are relevant in operating heat-dissipating devices, such as smaller catalytic reactors, electronic apparatus, and hybrid electric vehicle battery components. The operative temperature should always be at a sustainable value to evade the failure or breakdown of these heat-dissipating devices. To cool these devices, a water-ethanol mixture is used as a coolant. The forced convective as well as SFB heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) for the water-ethanol mixture are estimated numerically using the volume of fluid method in a rectangular channel with dimensions of 15 mm×15 mm×150 mm. During SFB, the liquid-vapor interaction is examined by solving the bubble void fraction (BVF). For the discretization process, the Crank-Nicholson implicit method (scheme) is used, and the convective equation for the BVF is converted to an algebraic equation. The corrector predictor equation procedure is used for solving the BVF. The thermodynamic and thermophysical parameters related to subcooled boiling are estimated upon the incorporation of the bubble void fraction (α) using the mixture rule. These parameters are then incorporated into the x-momentum equation as well as into the energy equation for finding the fluid temperature, velocity, and pressure drop values. From the estimated values of temperature, subcooled flow boiling HTC is obtained. The estimated values of HTC can predict well compared with that of empirical equations. Moreover, mass flux plays a vital role in the forced convective region, while heat flux has a crucial role in the SFB region for the improvement of HTC. © 2023, The Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers and Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.
