Item GSM and GUI Based Remote Data Logging System(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2014) Khan, S.R.; Nath, R.K.; Bhat, M.S.Data Logging or 'Data Acquisition' is a very popular term in present day's industrial era. However it is a very useful electronic device to record a process, or environmental conditions. Because of the technological revolution the modern industrial and communication systems, the technological facilities are reaching in such a remote locations where immediate human interaction is not very easy. But periodic monitoring is a priority for those sites, as those sites contains very expensive equipments. So a remote data logging system is proposed in this paper using GSM (Global System for Mobile) modem to extract the overall remote site information and the proposed system is also integrated with GUI (Graphical User Interface). © 2014 IEEE.Item Development of ROS-based GUI for control of an autonomous surface vehicle(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2017) Velamala, S.S.; Pat; , D.; Ming, X.Robot Operating System (ROS) and Qt are both powerful tools used in the field of robotics and Graphical User Interface (GUI) development. The combination of both these tools gives an advantage of creating a simple and easy to use yet powerful GUI for control of robots and autonomous vehicles. This paper introduces a simple tab based UI for control of the WAM-V (Wave Adaptive Modular Vehicle) Autonomous Surface Vehicle. The UI is aimed to allow for easy initialization and killing of processes as well as gather and view the vehicular data such as diagnostics, sensor information and live camera feed, all at one place. All communication and data transfer is done wirelessly over a local WiFi network. Manual control of the ASV can be done using the buttons or by specific commands entered via command line as arguments. © 2017 IEEE.Item Mitigation of hard-coded credentials related attacks using QR code and secured web service for IoT(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2019) Verma, R.S.; Chandavarkar, B.R.; Nazareth, P.Hard-coded credentials such as clear text log-in id and password provided by the IoT manufacturers and unsecured ways of remotely accessing IoT devices are the major security concerns of industry and academia. Limited memory, power, and processing capabilities of IoT devices further worsen the situations in improving the security of IoT devices. In such scenarios, a lightweight security algorithm up to some extent can minimize the risk. This paper proposes one such approach using Quick Response (QR) code to mitigate hard-coded credentials related attacks such as Mirai malware, wreak havoc, etc. The QR code based approach provides non-clear text unpredictable login id and password. Further, this paper also proposes a secured way of remotely accessing IoT devices through modified https. The proposed algorithms are implemented and verified using Raspberry Pi 3 model B. © 2019 IEEE.
