Item Ontologies for specifying and reconciling contexts of web services(Elsevier, 2006) Sattanathan, S.; Narendra, N.C.; Maamar, Z.This paper presents an ontology-based approach for the specification (using OWL-C as a definition language) and reconciliation (using ConWeS as a mediation tool) of contexts of Web services. Web services are independent components that can be triggered and composed for the satisfaction of user needs (e.g., hotel booking). Because Web services originate from different providers, their composition faces the obstacle of the context heterogeneity featuring these Web services. An unawareness of this context heterogeneity during Web services composition and execution results in a lack of the quality and relevancy of information that permits tracking the composition, monitoring the execution, and handling exceptions. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. An extensive research in this direction concentrates on low level aspects of security such as message secrecy, data integrity, and authentication. Thus, proposed solutions are mainly built upon the assumption that security mechanisms are static and predefined. However, the dynamic nature of the Internet and the continuously changing environments where Web services operate require innovative and adaptive security solutions. This paper presents our solution for securing Web services based on adaptive policies, where adaptability is satisfied using the contextual information of the Web services. Composition addresses the case of a user request that cannot be satisfied by any available Web service, whereas a composite service obtained by integrating Web services might be used. Because Web services originate from different providers, their composition faces the obstacle of the context heterogeneity of Web services. An unawareness or poor consideration of this heterogeneity during Web services composition and execution result in a lack of the quality and relevancy of information that permits tracking the composition, monitoring the execution, and handling exceptions. This paper presents an ontology-based approach for context reconciliation. All rights reserved.Item Performance enhancement of HEVC lossless mode using context-based angular and planar intra predictions(Springer, 2020) Kamath, S.; Aparna., P.; Antony, A.Lossless mode of High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), the state-of-the-art video coding standard, can be used for distortion-free reconstruction of the input data for a wide variety of applications. HEVC relies on the usage of efficient intra prediction strategies to achieve superior compression than its predecessor H.264. A large amount of spatial redundancy exists in almost all video sequences due to coherence, smoothness and the inherent correlation within the neighboring pixels. In this paper, a context-based intra prediction scheme is proposed to minimize this local redundancy by identifying the edges and textures to appropriately modify the prediction strategy at the pixel level, without further increase in the computational complexity. The variability in the sum of absolute differences and local pixel intensity values are chosen to derive the context of the nearby region around the target pixel in the planar and angular intra prediction modes respectively. The experimental results validate the superiority of the proposed method over the HEVC anchor and other state-of-the-art techniques in the literature. © 2020, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.
