Item Seismic Slope Stability Analysis Using Pseudo-static Approach(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2024) Mishra, P.; Venkataramana, K.Ensuring the stability of slopes under the action of an earthquake is always a challenging problem for geotechnical engineers. As earthquake is one of the major factors responsible for the failure of slopes, it becomes necessary to carry out comprehensive research on the stability analysis of slopes subjected to earthquake-induced loads. Many researchers have developed several methods to analyse the stability behaviour of slope, but till now the failure behaviour has not been understood properly because of the complexity of earthquake loading. With the above background, this study presents a numerical analysis, performed in PLAXIS 3D, to investigate the stability of slopes subjected to earthquake-induced loadings using pseudo-static approach. Also, parametric studies have been carried out to better understand the effects of different parameters (soil properties, slope dimensions, earthquake loadings, etc.) on the Factor of Safety (FOS) and displacement of the slope. The stability of a slope is best assessed in terms of its FOS, which is computed by the strength reduction technique. Analyses’ results show that the slope can sustain a maximum displacement of 442.80 mm, while slope height is varied till the failure point keeping all other parameters constant. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.Item Exploring Hidden Behaviors in OpenMP Multi-threaded Applications for Anomaly Detection in HPC Environments(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2025) Bhowmik, B.; Girish, K.K.; Mishra, P.; Mishra, R.In high-performance computing (HPC), multi-threaded applications using OpenMP face complex challenges in identifying hidden performance issues, often due to resource conflicts, software inefficiencies, and hardware anomalies. These subtle issues can significantly degrade performance and reduce system reliability. This paper introduces an innovative approach designed to address these concealed issues in OpenMP multi-threaded applications. The proposed method integrates a Random Forest classifier with anthropomorphic diagnosis to effectively identify and diagnose performance-affecting problems. The approach has demonstrated a remarkable ability to detect 90% of performance-affecting issues that are often obscured within complex HPC environments. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.Item Applications of Machine Learning in Diabetic Foot Ulcer Diagnosis using Multimodal Images: A Review(International Association of Engineers, 2023) Mayya, V.; Tummala, V.; Reddy, C.U.; Mishra, P.; Boddu, R.; Olivia, D.; Kamath S․, S.S.Diabetes related complications such as Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU) may necessitate recurrent hospitalisations and expensive treatments. Uncontrolled diabetes can result in severe DFUs, resulting in amputation of lower limbs or feet, prolonged debilitation and diminished quality of life. Early diagnosis and proactive management are reported to significantly enhance the prognosis and reduce the onset of further complications. In this study, research works on developing clinical decision support systems (CDSS) for the identification and segmentation of DFU are systematically reviewed. The techniques employed range from traditional image processing techniques to approaches based on deep learning (DL). A taxonomy of DFU CDSSs is presented, categorised into two groups: RGB-based techniques and thermal imaging-based approaches. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt at a comprehensive study of CDSSs for DFU related investigative tasks, based on different imaging modalities. We also delve into the difficulties experienced in the process of creating efficient, reliable, and accurate models for the early detection of DFU, and highlight the vast potential for further research in this emerging domain. © (2023), (International Association of Engineers). However, despite the critical role of reputation for organizational performance, there is a conspicuous absence of the discourse on the enablers, dimensions and consequences of customer based corporate reputation (CBR) in general and developing countries in particular. This study attempts to bridge this knowledge gap by investigating the link among sub-dimensions of CBR. The study has considered enablers such as Customer Satisfaction (CS) and Trust (T) and the outcome variables considered for testing includes Word of Mouth (WOM) and Loyalty. Partial Least Squares (PLS) path modelling technique was chosen to evaluate the proposed model. 224 consumer responses of leading banks in India have been collected and analysed. Based upon findings, guidelines for better CBR management have been suggested along with the unique contribution of the study. © Serials Publications Pvt. Thus, GQDs show excellent photoluminescence (PL) and also possess good electrochemical properties. In the present study, we synthesized GQDs via hydrothermal (HT) method using Graphene oxide as prepared from improved Hummer's method as a precursor with several modifications. The effect of the variation in the photoluminescence and electrochemical properties of the as-prepared GQDs were studied. Average particle size of the as-synthesized GQDs was roughly 30 nm and produced blue PL on excitation with a wavelength of 365 nm. On reacting the GQDs with Cupric Nitrate and Cobalt Nitrate in separate batches, a significant decrease in the intensity of PL was observed. This quenching of PL of GQDs has been utilized in the qualitative estimation of Metal ion (Cu2+ and Co2+) species in aqueous media. © 2017 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, WeinheimItem Synthesis and characterization of graphene quantum dots and their size reduction using swift heavy ion beam(Taylor and Francis Inc. 325 Chestnut St, Suite 800 Philadelphia PA 19106, 2018) Mishra, P.; Badekai Ramachandra, B.R.Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) are nanosized fragments of graphene displaying quantum confinement effect. They have shown to be prepared from various methods which include ion beam etching of graphene. However, recently the modification of the GQDs has garnered tremendous attention owing to its suitability for various applications. Here, we have studied the effect of swift ion beam irradiation on the properties of GQDs. The ion beam treatment on the GQDs exhibited the change in observed photoluminescence of GQDs as they exhibited a blue luminescence on excitation with longwave UV (?365 nm) due to the reduction in size and removal of the ethoxy (–C–O–C–) groups present on the quantum dots. This was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy, particle size analysis, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. © 2018 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.Item Synthesis and Characterization of High-Dielectric-Constant Nanographite–Polyurethane Composite(Minerals, Metals and Materials Society 184 Thorn Hill Road Warrendale PA 15086, 2018) Mishra, P.; Badekai Ramachandra, B.R.; Bhattacharya, B.; Mehra, R.M.In the face of ever-growing demand for capacitors and energy storage devices, development of high-dielectric-constant materials is of paramount importance. Among various dielectric materials available, polymer dielectrics are preferred for their good processability. We report herein synthesis and characterization of nanographite–polyurethane composite with high dielectric constant. Nanographite showed good dispersibility in the polyurethane matrix. The thermosetting nature of polyurethane gives the composite the ability to withstand higher temperature without melting. The resultant composite was studied for its dielectric constant (?) as a function of frequency. The composite exhibited logarithmic variation of ? from ~ 3000 at 100 Hz to ~ 225 at 60 kHz. The material also exhibited stable dissipation factor (tan ?) across the applied frequencies, suggesting its ability to resist current leakage. © 2018, The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society.Item Copper complex with N-,O- architecture grafted graphene oxide nanosheet as a heterogeneous catalyst for Suzuki cross coupling reaction(Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers, 2019) Anuma, S.; Mishra, P.; Badekai Ramachandra, B.R.We report a straight forward synthesis of a heterogeneous catalyst by covalently immobilizing copper Schiff base complex on the surface of amino functionalized graphene oxide (AGO) for the Suzuki coupling of substituted aryl halides with arylboronic acids. The as-synthesized complex and subsequent catalyst were characterized for their structural features using suitable techniques. The analysis confirmed that the Cu bound to Schiff base (L) ligand via bi(N-,O-) linkage and Cu-L immobilization on AGO was due to its amino functionality. The catalyst exhibited excellent yield of 94% for Suzuki coupling reactions as analyzed by gas chromatography. The catalyst was recycled for 5 successive reactions with insignificant loss in efficiency. ICP-AES analysis showed the catalyst retained 87.5% of its active metal center after 5th iteration. High yield, environmentally benign, easy work-up procedure, easy separation of catalyst and mild reaction conditions are some of the important facets this catalyst offer. © 2018 Taiwan Institute of Chemical EngineersItem Iron pincer complex and its graphene oxide composite as catalysts for Suzuki coupling reaction(Elsevier B.V., 2019) Kumar, L.M.; Mishra, P.; Badekai Ramachandra, B.R.We report the synthesis of Fe-NCN pincer complex as homogenous catalyst and its composite by immobilizing the complex on amino functionalized graphene oxide as a heterogeneous catalyst for Suzuki coupling reactions. Both the complex and the composite were employed in catalyzing the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction between the aryl halide and phenyl boronic acid in acetonitrile solvent media with Cs2CO3 as a base. Effect of substitution over aryl halide was also investigated. Immobilization of the pincer complex had advantageous recovery and reuse of the catalyst as compared to its homogenous analog with no significant decrease in the catalytic efficiency. © 2018 King Saud UniversityItem Calcium-Induced Photoluminescence Quenching of Graphene Quantum Dots in Hard Water: A Quick Turn-Off Sensing Approach(Wiley-Blackwell, 2019) Mishra, P.; Badekai Ramachandra, B.R.The photoluminescence of graphene quantum dots (GQD) is widely explored for sensory applications. Among various metal ions to be detected in aqueous bodies, Ca2+ ions are often neglected which is evident from the lack of literature. However, owing to booming industrialization, the available potable water is mostly crossing the prescribed hardness limits. Presented report summarize the synthesis of GQD via modified hydrothermal cutting of graphene oxide, which was further employed for sensing Ca2+ ions in hard water samples. The as synthesized GQD exhibited its characteristic blue photoluminescence on excitation with longwave UV (? ? 365 nm) which was suppressed on the introduction of Ca2+ ions. The GQD as photoluminescent probe determined the concentration of Ca2+ ion in water with an accuracy of 96.74% ± 3.26%. The LOD of the reported method was found to be 5 ?M and it was sensitive towards Ca2+ ions in the presence of interfering ions such as Al3+, Mg2+, and K+ which are commonly found in hard water samples. Therefore, the determination of hardness of water w.r.t Ca2+ using GQD based PL turn off sensing is a quick, viable and economical method. © 2019 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
