Failure rate and reliability of the KOMATSU hydraulic excavator in surface limestone mine
    (American Institute of Physics Inc. subs@aip.org, 2018) N. S., N.S.; Choudhary, R.P.; Murthy, C.S.N.
The model with failure rate function of bathtub-shaped is helpful in reliability analysis of any system and particularly in reliability associated privative maintenance. The usual Weibull distribution is, however, not capable to model the complete lifecycle of the any with a bathtub-shaped failure rate function. In this paper, failure rate and reliability analysis of the KOMATSU hydraulic excavator/shovel in surface mine is presented and also to improve the reliability and decrease the failure rate of each subsystem of the shovel based on the preventive maintenance. The model of the bathtub-shaped for shovel can also be seen as a simplification of the Weibull distribution. © 2018 Author(s).

Evolution of the Probability Distribution Function of Shovel – Dumper Combination in Opencast Coal Mine Using ANN and RWB
    (Springer Nature, 2020) N. S., N.S.; Choudhary, R.P.; Murthy, C.S.N.
This article presents a new analytic calculation for the shovel – dumper combination in opencast coal mine evolution of the one and two galaxy probability distribution function (PDF). To develop a nonparametric PDF for a combination of shovel and dumper in a opencast coal mine, the historical breakdown data such as time between failure (TBF) of a shovel and dumpers were collected from the mine. Based on the collected TBF, Weibull parameters such as the shape parameter (β), scale parameter (η) and location parameter (γ) were calculated under the K-S test (Kolmogorov–Smirnov test). A Weibull distribution model has been developed to obtain the one and two galaxy probability distribution function (PDF) for a collected failure data of shovel-dumper system using Reliability Isograph Workbench (RWB). Also, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model has been developed to predict the PDF for the same shovel-dumper system and compared with the actual obtained value of Reliability Isograph Workbench (RWB). It was found that the values of RMSE and R2 were 0.00068 & 0.9465 for PDF. The statistical results showed that the proposed Reliability Isograph Workbench and ANN model successfully predicts PDF for the shovel-dumper system. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Influence of index angle on specific energy in rock indentation test
(CAFET INNOVA Technical Society 1-2-18/103, Mohini Mansion, Gagan Mahal Road, Domalguda, Hyderabad 500029, 2015) Kalyan, B.; Murthy, C.S.N.; Choudhary, R.P.
In the present work, static indentation tests were carried out in six types of rocks namely pink marble, limestone, basalt, steel gray granite, moon white granite and black galaxy granite using commercial drill bits of 35mm, 38mm, 45mm, 48mm diameters, aimed to know the influence of index (rotation)angle on specific energy. From the experimental data, Force-Penetration (F-P) curves were plotted and Specific energy (energy necessary to excavate a unit volume of rock) values were calculated from F-P curves for each bit rock combinations. The specific energies for the rocks (pink marble, limestone) at 30° index angle were found to be much less than the specific energies at other index angles. Similarly the specific energies for the rocks (basalt, steel gray granite, moon white granite and black galaxy granite) at 20° index angle were found to be much less than the specific energies at other index angles. © 2015 CAFET-INNOVA TECHNICAL SOCIETY. Reliability-based preventive maintainability analysis of shovel-dumper system in surface coal mine using ANN and isograph reliability workbench
    (International Information and Engineering Technology Association info@iieta.org, 2018) N. S., N.S.; Choudhary, R.P.; Murthy, C.S.N.
Shovel-Dumper system is utilized as a loading and transporting machines for intermediate mechanization in surface mining. For survival in the exceptional competition in the global business environment in recent years, it is basic that the Shovel - Dumper system should be reliable and maintained adequately and effectively. This paper seeks to study the reliability, availability, and preventive maintenance of one shovel and four dumpers in a surface coal mine with failure and repair data by Isograph Reliability Workbench (RWB) in the case of a non-parametric statistical method such as K-S test. The constraints and reasons for machine unavailability are outlined. The reliability and availability of the shovel-dumper system are evaluated and also evaluated the maintenance time interval to improve the 80% of reliability for each system. The reliability, availability and preventive maintenance have been validated with the artificial neural network (ANN). ANN model is then connected to a reliability method, K-S test to predict the failure probability of shovel and dumper. © 2018 Mathematical Modelling of Engineering Problems.

(Blue Eyes Intelligence Engineering and Sciences Publication, 2019) N. S., H.K.; Choudhary, R.P.; Murthy, C.S.N.
To develop a nonparametric bathtub curve model for a shovel and dumper in an opencast limestone mine, the historical failure data such as time between failure (TBF) and failure frequency of a shovel and dumper were collected from the mine. Based on the collected TBF and failure frequency, Weibull parameters i.e., shape parameter (?), scale parameter (?)?and location parameter (?) were calculated under the K-S test (Kolmogorov–Smirnov). A Weibull distribution model has been developed to obtain the probability distribution function (PDF) and the bathtub-shaped failure rate curve for a shovel-dumper system using Reliability Isograph Workbench (RWB). Also, the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model has been developed to predict the PDF and failure rate for the same shovel-dumper system and compared with the obtained values of Reliability Isograph Workbench. It was found that the values of RMSE and R 2 were 5.96E-5 & 0.999 for PDF and 9.23E-8 & 0.9993 for failure rate respectively. © BEIESP.

Evolution of the probability distribution function of shovel–dumper combination in open cast limestone mine using RWB and ANN: a case study
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2019) Kumar, N.S.H.; Choudhary, R.P.; Murthy, C.S.N.
This newsletter affords a new analytic calculation for the shovel–dumper combination in open cast limestone mine evolution of the only and two galaxy probability density function (PDF). To broaden a nonparametric PDF for a combination of shovel and dumper in an open cast limestone mine, the ancient failure statistics which includes time between failure (TBF) of a shovel and dumpers had been accumulated from the mine. Primarily based on the collected TBF, Weibull parameters which include the shape parameter (?), scale parameter (?), and location parameter (?) have been calculated under the K–S test (Kolmogorov–Smirnov test) using Isograph Reliability Workbench (RWB). In addition, the artificial neural network (ANN) version has been developed to predict the PDF for the same shovel–dumper system and compared with the real acquired fee of RWB. It was found that the values of RMSC and R2 had been 5.96e?5 and 0.999 for PDF. The statistical effects showed that the proposed Reliability Isograph Workbench and PDF version correctly predicts PDF for the shovel–dumper system. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Model based reliability analysis of shovel–dumper system’s mechanical failures used in the surface coal mine: a case study
    (Taylor and Francis Ltd., 2020) N. S., N.S.; Choudhary, R.P.; Murthy, C.S.N.
In a surface coal mine, efficient usage of shovels and dumpers should be most reliable and available to reach their production target. Keeping this in mind, this study was carried out at a surface coal mine, which is located at Open Cast-I, The SCCL, Kothagudem area, Telangana. The mechanical failure data such as time between failures (TBF) and time to repair (TTR) of each sub-system of a shovel-dumper system were collected and analysed statistically and graphically for reliability and availability. Graphical methods such as trend test and series correlation test and Chi-squared test were used to validate the independent, identically distribution of mean time between failures and mean and time to repair for the same a shovel and dumpers. Statistically, the Weibull distribution is selected as it was found the best-fit distribution by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) test using Isograph Reliability Workbench. In K-S test, it was found that shovel KS1 has reliability of 0.2682 and dumpers BD1, BD2, KD2 and KD4 had reliability of 0.3731, 0.2850, 0.2897 and 0.2962, respectively for the 1 year of working hours. Also, calculated reliability- based time interval for preventive maintenance to achieve 70, 80 and 90%, respectively of reliability for same shovel-dumper system. © 2020 Safety and Reliability Society.

Reliability-based analysis of probability density function and failure rate of the shovel–dumper system in a surface coal mine
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2021) Kumar, N.S.H.; Choudhary, R.P.; Murthy, C.S.
The research article presents a reliability-based analysis of probability density function, and the failure rate of a shovel-dumper system was determined based on Weibull distribution in an open cast coal mine. Referring to the bathtub-model along with the Weibull distribution of a shovel and dumpers, decreasing, constant and increasing failure rates are represented using the RWB. To demonstrate the bathtub model and reliability model of combining shovel and dumpers, historical data such as TBF and TTR were used. The obtained bathtub curve shows that the influencing parameters such as ?, ? and ? had a better useful life after 7080 working hours. Also, the ANN model was developed to predict the PDF, failure rate and reliability function. It has been found that the values of RMSE and R2 were 0.00068 and 0.9565 for PDF, 0.0004342 and 0.98904 for failure rate and RMSE and R2 were 0.9739 and 0.000497 respectively. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
