Item A green human resource management approach of participation in decision-making and behavioural outcomes – a moderated mediated model(Emerald Publishing, 2023) Kumar, S.P.; Saha, S.; Anand, A.Purpose: This study aims to assess the moderating and mediating role of supportive culture (SC) in the relationship between participation in decision-making (PDM) and job satisfaction (JS) and the dimensions of commitment, such as affective commitment (AC), normative commitment (NC) and continuance commitment (CC). Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected from 712 employees working in different public sector undertakings (PSUs) across India. Necessary condition analysis and partial least square analysis were used to test the proposed hypotheses. Findings: The findings of the present study indicated that SC is partially mediating the relationship between PDM and JS; PDM and AC. However, SC did not mediate the relationship between PDM and NC; PDM and CC. PDM was positively and significantly related to SC, JS, AC, NC and CC. JS had a significant impact on AC, NC and CC. It is highly desirable for organizations to retain their employees ranging from line managers to top management levels and provide opportunities for everyone to actively use their experience and expertise. Originality/value: The findings have implications for managers, as well as employees in PSUs, as they demonstrate how several work-related factors can be emphasized to maintain employees' commitment and motivation. Until now, India has paid scant attention to the role of SC as a mediator and moderator between PDM, JS and multiple commitments. This study cautiously collected responses from unbiased employees working in a variety of organizational functional units. © 2021, Emerald Publishing Limited.Item A hybrid model of convo-GAN to detect fake images(Grenze Scientific Society, 2021) Saha, S.; Rudra, B.With advancements in the field of Deep Learning, it has become easy to generate face swaps, thereby creating fake images which look extremely realistic, leaving few traces which cannot be detected by bare human eyes. Such images are known as ‘DeepFakes’ that can be used to create a ruckus and affect the quality of public discourse on sensitive issues, defame an individual’s profile, create political distress, blackmail a person or envision fake cyber terrorists. This paper proposes methods to detect fake images with the help of hybrid models having Convolutional Neural Network with Error Level Analysis, Gated Recurrent Unit neural network, Long Short Term Memory recurrent neural network and Generative Adversarial Network respectively. The 2019 ‘Real and Fake Face Detection’ dataset from Kaggle [7] is used to train the models and by experimentation we are able to prove that the combined model of Convolutional Neural Network and Generative Adversarial Network outperforms other models. © Grenze Scientific Society, 2021.Item Ag Nanoparticles-Induced Metallic Conductivity in Thin Films of 2D Metal-Organic Framework Cu3(HHTP)2(American Chemical Society, 2023) Saha, S.; Ananthram, K.S.; Hassan, N.; Ugale, A.; Tarafder, K.; Ballav, N.Two-dimensional (2D) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are usually associated with higher electrical conductivity and charge carrier mobility when compared with 3D MOFs. However, attaining metallic conduction in such systems through synthetic or postsynthetic modifications is extremely challenging. Herein, we present the fabrication of thin films of a 2D MOF, Cu3(HHTP)2 (HHTP = 2,3,6,7,10,11-hexahydroxytriphenylene), decorated with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) exhibiting significant conductivity enhancement at room temperature. Variable-temperature electrical transport measurements across the low-temperature (200 K) to high-temperature (373 K) regime evidenced metallic conduction. Interestingly, thin films of a 3D MOF, CuTCNQ (TCNQ = 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane), upon decoration with AgNPs, disclosed a converse trend. The origin of such distinctive observations on AgNPs@Cu3(HHTP)2 and AgNPs@CuTCNQ systems was comprehended by using first-principles density functional theory (DFT) calculations and attributed to an interfacial electronic effect. Our work sheds new light on rationally designing synthetic modifications in thin films of MOFs to tune the electrical transport property. © 2023 American Chemical Society.Item An experimental investigation to determine the properties of fly ash based geopolymers as per indian standards(Springer, 2019) Saha, S.; C, C.Production of ordinary Portland cement requires huge quantity of natural resources and also releases huge quantity of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Research efforts have been continuing to establish geopolymer as an alternative cementitious material for the replacement of ordinary Portland cement. This paper presents the study to find out the properties of fly ash based geopolymer paste and 28 days compressive strength of geopolymer mortar. Standard consistency, setting time of geopolymer paste has been determined using vicat’s apparatus (according to Indian Standards), which is followed for cement paste, varying the concentration of sodium hydroxide solution from 6 to 16 M. Results indicate higher standard consistency, more time required for setting for fly ash based geopolymer than that of cement paste. Compressive strength of the geopolymer paste and mortar 17 specimens increases with the increase of the concentration of sodium hydroxide solution and decrease beyond 14 M. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.Item An Intricate Balance of Ionicity and Covalency: Metal-Like Conduction in All-Inorganic Halide Double Perovskite Cs2AgSbCl6(American Chemical Society, 2025) Kalyani, M.; Ananthram, K.S.; Saha, S.; Ninawe, P.; Tarafder, K.; Ballav, N.Halide perovskites have recently evolved as attractive materials with enormous technological significance due to synthetic control over the structure-property relationship. Halide perovskites are often realized to be either electrical insulators or semiconductors. We present an unusual metal-like conduction (thermally deactivated) in a Pb-free all-inorganic halide double perovskite, Cs2AgSbCl6. The experimental results were understood using density functional theory studies, combined with molecular dynamics simulations and electron localization function calculations, revealing retention of the predominant ionicity of the Ag-Cl bond and an increase in the covalency of the Sb-Cl bond at an elevated temperature, which resulted in a significant change of the electronic band structure, including the density of states, thereby exhibiting an intricate balance of ionicity and covalency. A significant modulation of the electrical conductivity (more than 3 orders of magnitude) without any noticeable structural change will stimulate the investigation of hitherto unknown electronic phase transitions in halide double perovskites. Additionally, light-induced unidirectional rectification of current in Cs2AgSbCl6 was ascribed to a dynamic internal polarization effect. © 2025 American Chemical Society.Item Empirical validation of dimensionality of quality of work life in India(2016) Saha, S.; Pavan Kumar, S.Purpose - Quality of work life is a unique and distinctive construct that is highly valued in organizations. The purpose of this paper is to identify the dimensions of quality of work life from Indian perspective. Design/methodology/approach - Exploratory factor analysis was employed to identify the constituent dimensions suitable to measure quality of work life. Confirmatory factor analysis was then performed on these identified dimensions and their items to check validity, reliability and dimensionality and determine a factor structure. Findings - Results obtained suggested a three-dimensional conceptualization of quality of work life with twelve items. The dimensions identified are entitled as quality of work life with health and safety (QWLHS), family and pay (QWLFP) and knowledge (QWLK). Research limitations/implications - The findings can benefit managers at an operational level. They can make their employees work effectively with focus to improve every smallest aspect of work life. As a result, it is quite impractical to use fly ash based geopolymer paste as an alternative to Ordinary Portland Cement in faster construction. In this study, an effort has been made to enhance the properties of fly ash based geopolymer paste by incorporating ground granulated blast furnace slag at various percentage levels. Microstructure of the geopolymer paste is studied using Scanning Electron Microscopy. In this work, we report single crystals of a Cu(i) halide-based perovskite-like organic-inorganic hybrid, (TMA)Cu2Br3, (TMA = tetramethylammonium), consisting of unusual one-dimensional inorganic anionic chains of -(Cu2Br3)-, electrostatically stabilized by organic cations, and the Cu(i)-Cu(i) distance of 2.775 Å indicates the possibility of cuprophilic interactions. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements further confirmed the presence of exclusive Cu(i) in (TMA)Cu2Br3 and electronic structure calculations based on density functional theory suggested a direct bandgap value of 2.50 eV. The crystal device demonstrated an impressive bulk photovoltaic effect due to the emergence of excitonic Cu(i)-Cu(i) interactions, as was clearly visualized in the charge-density plot as well as in the Raman spectroscopic analysis. The single crystals of a silver analogue, (TMA)Ag2Br3, have also been synthesized revealing a Ag(i)-Ag(i) distance of 3.048 Å (signature of an argentophilic interaction). Unlike (TMA)Cu2Br3, where more density of states from Cu compared to Br near the Fermi level was observed, (TMA)Ag2Br3 exhibited the opposite trend, possibly due to variation in the ionic potential influencing the overall bonding scenario. © 2024 The Royal Society of Chemistry.Item EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS ON THE PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE CONTAINING PRE-SOAKED RECYCLED FINE AGGREGATE(Associated Cement Companies Ltd., 2022) Saha, S.; C, C.; Ganiger, M.S.; Sajjan, S.Recycled fine aggregate (RFA) becomes very significant and promising alternative materials for natural fine aggregate (river sand) to be used in the production of concrete. But, most of the past research works indicated higher water absorption capacity of RFA as one of the key factor to affect the properties of fresh concrete. Therefore, an experimental attempt has been made to address the issues related to water absorption capacity of RFA by soaking it in water for 24 hours prior to use as alternative fine aggregate for the production of the fresh concrete. Mechanical properties of concrete such as compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and flexural strength, and durability properties such as resistance against acidic and alkaline environment, chloride permeability test for ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and Portland pozzolana cement (PPC) based concrete mixes made with soaked recycled fine aggregates (SRFA) are determined, and analysed. For OPC, and PPC based concrete, respectively 4.32, and 20.75 % in compressive strength at 28 days; 2.69, and 27.24 % increase in flexural strength; 6.38, and 40 % increase in splitting tensile strength at 28 days were observed for the concrete mixes with SRFA compared to the mixes with RFA. Experimental results indicated notable improvement of the mechanical, and durability properties of concrete mixes when recycled fine aggregates were soaked in water prior to use. © 2022, Associated Cement Companies Ltd.. However, serverless computing has many challenges regarding data security and function scheduling. To address these challenges, we have proposed a system to secure the data of an end-user. We also aim to meet the quality of service (QoS) for the end-user requests. This work presents a Simulated Annealing-based optimization algorithm for function placement. Also, we have Hyperledger Fabric, a blockchain framework in the system architecture for securing the data of an end-user. We have conducted experiments in Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) taking virtual machine instances. Normative commitment is positively impacted by education and tenure. Group commitment is positively related to tenure. Job involvement is positively impacted by age and tenure. Implications: These findings are important for managers so that they can help build and improve different types of commitment of employees in organizations. In this experimental study, effects of the mix parameters related to alkaline liquid (AL) and recycled fine aggregate (RFA) on the shrinkage behaviour of environment-friendly mortar mixes produced with fly ash (FA)-based geopolymer binder and RFA were investigated and reported. To find out the effects of AL, concentration of liquid sodium hydroxide (LSH) was varied from 6M to 16M, ratio of liquid sodium silicate (LSS) to LSH in AL was varied from 1.0 to 2.5 and AL/FA ratio was considered as 0.4 and 0.6. Different fly ash-based geopolymer mortar mix were produced depending on above-said combinations of mix parameters along with the RFA content (by weight) of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% in lieu of natural fine aggregate. Prismatic specimens (25 mm × 25 mm × 285 mm) were cast and cured at ambient air temperature to determine the shrinkage behaviour. Higher RFA content in mix, higher LSS/LSH ratio in AL and higher AL/FA ratio resulted in higher shrinkage value. But, lesser shrinkage value was noticed for those specimens of mortar mix with the consideration of higher concentration of LSH in AL with varying RFA content. ©, Engineers Australia.Item Influence of Trust and Participation in Decision Making on Employee Attitudes in Indian Public Sector Undertakings(2017) Pavan Kumar, S.; Saha, S.Trust is an important component that needs to be present among individuals. On the other hand, geopolymer is being tried to be established as an alternative sustainable binder material for ordinary portland cement. In the present study, with the thought of promoting of sustainability, an attempt has been made to use concrete wastes as recycled fine aggregate (RFA) partially to produce fly ash (FA)-based geopolymer mortar. The workability, water absorption, compressive strength at 3, 7, 28, and 56 days, volume change behavior, and chloride permeability of the produced FA-based geopolymer mortar were determined. The effects of RFA, the ratio of alkali liquid (AL) to FA, and different curing regimes on these properties of mortar mix also discussed. The morphology and microstructures of the samples taken from the mortar mix, which were observed having the highest strength under different curing regimes, were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The experimental results indicate lower workability, higher water absorption capacity, and higher drying shrinkage of geopolymer mortar mix that has more RFA content in the mix, but the compressive strength of the geopolymer mortar mix started decreasing after a certain percentage of RFA content in the mix.
