Measuring the Quality of Text Summarization: A Survey of Evaluation Approaches
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2023) Rosamma, K.S.R.; Patil, N.
Text summarization and text summarization measures both play significant roles in the field of natural language processing and information retrieval. Text summarization is a computational technique that condenses large volumes of text into concise summaries, extracting key information and main ideas. It enables users to efficiently retrieve relevant information, comprehend complex documents, and make informed decisions. On the other hand, text summarization measures are essential tools for evaluating the quality, effectiveness, and performance of text summarization systems. These measures encompass various aspects, including content coverage, linguistic quality, coherence, and informativeness of the generated summaries. By leveraging text summarization measures, researchers and practitioners can systematically evaluate, benchmark, and improve summarization methods. They facilitate the identification of best practices, the development of innovative techniques, and the fair comparison of different approaches. This paper presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of various text summarization measures. © 2023 IEEE.

Pioneering Frontiers in Natural Language Processing: Exploring Promising Areas and Emerging Applications
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2023) Rosamma, K.S.R.; Patil, N.
NLP, short for Natural Language Processing, refers to a domain of research that centers on the interaction between computers and human language. Its objective is to devise algorithms and models that empower machines to comprehend, interpret, and produce human language in a coherent and meaningful manner. NLP is of great importance due to its ability to enable effective communication, facilitate information retrieval and extraction, analyse sentiment and opinions, break down language barriers, summarize text, recognize named entities, extract structured information, generate human-like text, process voice commands, and support cognitive computing. As NLP continues to advance, it holds immense potential for transforming various industries and enhancing human-machine interactions across numerous domains. This study emphasizes the significance of NLP in narrowing the divide between human language and machine comprehension, resulting in a broad spectrum of applications and advantages. © 2023 IEEE.
