Item A Dual Boost Multilevel Inverter Circuit for Renewable Energy Applications(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2020) Bharadwaj, L.; Yellasiri, Y.; Shiva Naik, B.S.; Nageswar Rao, B.N.; Aditya, K.; Reddy, D.V.To minimise the dependence on fossil-fuels, researchers focused on integrating renewable energy with different power electronic inverters. In that process multilevel inverters (MLIs) have gained more attention due to its impeccable advantages. In this work, a novel topology with boost ability, and reduced number of components is proposed. Capacitors used in the proposed structure possess self-balancing ability and the works competently under any loading condition. It is worthy to mention that the blocking voltage of proposed circuit is with in the limits of source voltage even with the dual boost. Sinusoidal pulse width modulation switching strategy technique is employed to get gating signals. Simulation using MATLAB is carried-out to assess the performance of proposed inverter. Further, the proposed circuit is compared with switched-capacitor (SC) based MLIs in terms of number of switches, and standing voltage to highlight the potential merits. © 2020 IEEE.Item A Novel Switched-Capacitor Boost Multilevel Inverter for PV Applications(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2020) Reddy, D.V.; Yellasiri, Y.; Shiva Naik, B.S.; Nageswar Rao, B.N.; Aditya, K.; Bharadwaj, L.Nowadays, voltage boosting capability with less part count has become the key feature of recently developed MLI topologies. In this work, a novel topology with boost ability, and reduced number of components is proposed. Capacitors used in the proposed structure possess self-balancing ability and the works competently under any inductive-resistive loading conditions. The blocking voltage of proposed circuit is with in the limits of source voltage even with the dual boost. Sinusoidal pulse width modulation switching strategy technique is employed to get gating signals. Simulation using MATLAB is carried-out and hardware tests are conducted with the available components to assess the performance of proposed inverter. Further, the proposed circuit is compared with switched-capacitor (SC) based MLIs in terms of number of switches, and standing voltage to highlight the potential merits. © 2020 IEEE.Item Disaster management and its importance: A review paper of Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts, Karnataka, India(Institute of Physics, 2023) Jayaprakash, M.C.; Reddy, D.V.; Istijono, B.An extreme occurrence within the earth's system that causes human fatalities, injuries, and property destruction is referred to as a "disaster"from a social perspective. Disaster management is one of the most critical topics around the world. Many countries are getting affected because of its high magnitude impact on economy and loss of life. The Karnataka government must always be on guard and ready to meet problems due to the frequent natural disasters like landslides, floods, droughts, and human-induced dangers. In order to lessen the effect of disasters on the community, the Government of Karnataka has built enhanced institutional structures for disaster risk reduction. The main aim of the review paper of this, is to create awareness about the situations occurring due to any form of disasters and to develop preparedness in younger generation to face disaster situations. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.Item Modified self - Adaptive Plateau Histogram Equalization with mean threshold for brightness preserving and contrast enhancement(2013) Raju, A.; Dwarakish, G.S.; Reddy, D.V.Histogram Equalization (HE) is a simple, effective and widely used contrast enhancement technique as it can automatically define the intensity transformation function based on statistical characteristics of the image, but it tends to change the mean brightness of the image to the middle level of the gray level range. HE also produces saturation effects by extremely pushing the intensities towards the right or the left side of the histogram. To surmount these drawbacks, Clipping or Plateau Histogram Equalization techniques for brightness preserving and contrast enhancement have been proposed, but, these are not suitable for automatic systems because of manual selection of threshold level. Self-Adaptive Plateau Histogram Equalization (SAPHE) selects the threshold level automatically, but the process is relatively complicated and sometimes fails in execution. To overcome these drawbacks, a Modified Self - Adaptive Plateau Histogram Equalization with Mean threshold (Modified SAPHE-M) is proposed in this paper and compared the experimental results with Histogram Equalization (HE), Self-Adaptive Plateau Histogram Equalization (SAPHE) and Modified Self-Adaptive Plateau Histogram Equalization (Modified SAPHE) by using image quality measures such as Absolute Mean Brightness Error (AMBE) and Peak-Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). 2013 IEEE.Item Study on lateritic soil stabilization with lime and OPC for sustainable development(American Institute of Physics Inc., 2023) Jayaprakash, M.C.; Shashwathi, S.; Istijono, B.; Reddy, D.V.The worldwide concern for cleanup, protection and enhancement of the environment has development of a sub discipline within the field of geotechnical engineering; namely Geo-environmental, which is concerned with the application of geotechnical engineering to environmental control. It is within this area that the concepts of stabilization, solidification and reuse of waste lime in geotechnical engineering works are popularly encountered. The cost of the construction materials has rapidly increased and hence stabilization of soil using admixtures becomes Cost effective and eco-friendly blocks. Thus waste natural lime (egg/sea shell) considerably promise to reduce the cost of construction or alternative material that would be suitable for construction activities and also reduces the disposal problem and hence reduces contamination of soil and water. © 2023 Author(s).
